4 Surprising Benefits of AirPods Pro I Didn’t Know Before Using Them

My Airpods Pro purchase was circumstantial. Although I wanted to get one, I had no legit reason because I already owned AirPods Gen 2 until two months ago.

While talking to a few kids in my society, the left earpiece fell down a sewer canal when I pulled off my mask, aaargh!

It dropped somewhere I couldn’t look with a flashlight, and the rest is history. I talked to my society admin. Even they couldn’t help me fetch it.

After using only the right side earpiece for a few days, I fed up and decided to buy the AirPods Pro to prevent my hearing from getting retarded. I gave my old half-Airpods Gen 2 to my elder brother. He didn’t need it, but it was a “something-better-than-nothing” kind of opportunity for him.

I got the new ones to experience the noise cancellation and the transparency mode, as these were the only two hot features marketed all over the internet.

When I finally adjusted with the AirPods Pro, I found some other use cases in less than a week. Here are five of them, which you won’t find in the previous version of AirPods. They are concerned with the comfort level and health.

#1. Sleeping

Our society management doesn’t allow the residents to use AC because of the humid climate and infrastructure. If you want to have a relaxed sleep in the hot summer, turn the fan at maximum speed.

Though the fan's sound is primarily white noise, it is way easier to fall asleep in a quiet environment.

The same utility is when you want to sleep/relax/wait/ in a noisy environment, like in a plane or in an old car whose window is open just because its damn AC doesn’t work. Or worse, if you’re in an auto ( they don’t have AC )!

#2. Ignoring people for the mutual benefit

I used to play with kids in my society. Sometimes when I am in the flow, I accidentally said the F-word. Although the kids don’t understand it, one of the kids’ mother contacted me regarding my impulsive tongue.

The best alternative was not to get too cosy with the kids. But I was already late.

When I am around the kids ( knowingly or not ), I turn on the noise cancellation and do my work – walking, reading, phone call, doomscrolling, stargazing, daydreaming, etc.

When the kids call me, I respond when I hear clearly after several times, but it’s okay because I am not showing disrespect. I am just not letting them get too friendly with me.

Sometimes when you get in such a situation ( happens more often, don’t you think? ) where you have to ignore the second person, whatever you can do without being emphatic is good enough.

#3. Sound clarity at low decibels in a loud environment. Beat that!

With regular earphones [ that don’t have noise cancellation], playing at maximum volume in a noisy environment is detrimental for your ears. I realised it when my father said, “you don’t respond on the first attempt, lad.”

With AirPods Pro or any active noise cancellation earbuds ( not sure about others because I haven’t used them ), you can listen in a noisy environment at low volume. It ensures clear music without damaging your ears. This feature has been a game-changer for me.

#4. Easy toggling for the transparency mode

You already knew this feature first. The transparency mode activates by pressing the earbuds at its haptic sensors. You can also control it from any Apple device after connecting.

It does take time to get used to this new feature. But when you do, you can always keep your earphones plugged in because of their round-shaped soft earbuds. Unlike the old Apple earphones, AirPods Pro doesn’t hurt your inner ear if you wear them for a long time. And it's lightweight too.

Final words

The purchase for AirPods Pro turned out to be excellent. But if you would ask me one thing that I like the most about the products, it’s the ability to listen clearly at a low decibel in a noisy environment. It is a health concern that makes the product worth it ( if money is not a significant concern ).

The other features mentioned above are my personal favourites. If you like to necessitate personal boundaries with people or are a melomaniac who loves music clarity, you’ll even find the other features interesting.
